DESCRIPTION:Sunday\, May 7\, 2023\n9:00 AM\nWestbourne Trail Ride\nWestbourne\, The Plains\, VA\n$60\nEnjoy an exclusive trail ride through the National Register listed “Little River Rural Historic District” which will explore the history of the most pristine territory of the Orange County Hounds. Our ride will begin at the early 19th-century Westbourne and continue across the legendary estates of Oakendale and Stonehedge.  The entire ride will take place on properties permanently protected by conservation easements.   \nPlease arrive early as the ride will begin promptly at 9:00 AM and last approximately 2 1/2 hours. \nParticipants are responsible for providing their own horse and riding equipment.  They must be able to control their horse and remain with the group behind the leader.  Protective ASTM/SEI approved hard helmets are required by our insurance. Riders should also be comfortable walking\, trotting\, crossing small creeks\, and riding on hills. If you need to hire a horse\, please let us know and we can make local recommendations. \nWater and snacks will be provided. We encourage auditors and participants to stay for multiple riders in order to get the most of out the clinic. \nBrandi’s teaching style is clear and communicative\, allowing you to learn as other riders work on their goals. Whether you are interested in learning a little more about dressage fundamentals or riding your first I1 test this year\, Brandi can help you achieve your goals. CHS is subsidizing some of the cost of this event in hopes of providing more accessible equestrian opportunities in our community. Day stalls are available for $40 so you can comfortably leave your horse while you watch. There is a possibilty of adding up to 2 afternoon spots in this clinic if it fills so stay tuned. Tailgating spaces are available to enjoy the day amongst friends and family.\nThe Weekend concludes with the PFH Hunter Pairs competition on Sunday\, March 26 at Clifton Back Gate\, Upperville\, Virginia. DESCRIPTION:This course introduces the basics of Horses and Horsemanship from the ground. No riding experience needed. We will both discuss with a syllabus and have horses present to assist in learning basic care\, grooming\, behavior\, handling\, anatomy of horses\, and more. Perfect for someone who is interested in fostering a relationship with horses\, either because you have always wanted to enrich/gain knowledge\, or you have a child in riding or therapeutic riding. We invite anyone from any discipline and level to come join us.  \nI’ve been thinking recently about the value in having a strong community\, and even though we have been growing Riding Far\, there are times when I feel isolated within my routine of working with training horses.\nThe clinics we teach foster a wonderful sense of community but are a serious commitment of time as well as money.\nOur goal is to run a regular “Open Arena” event in various locations with the goal to bring people together at low or no cost so we can share our love of horses with one another by creating an environment that is completely supportive and non-judgmental.\nThese events will be open to absolutely anyone who is interested in coming and we will not have any specific objective for the day. At least one of us from Riding Far will always be there to provide support or guidance if you wish it\, but otherwise we just hope to meet you and your horse and have some fun!\nCheck out the flyer below for the details of our first Open Arena event.
