FlyAway Stables is a multi-disciplinary equine facility located in Middleburg, the heart of Virginia’s horse country. We offer boarding, training and lessons for all ages, but we have a soft spot for the adult novice, the returning rider and the “weekend warrior”. We specialize in helping adult riders who might have lost their confidence and are seeking to redevelop new trust with their horse.
Whether your goal is a relaxing walkabout, riding the perfect half pass, the thrill of the chase, or jumping the big fences, we are dedicated to helping each horse and every rider achieve their full potential.
Using classical horsemanship, positive reinforcement, the Tellington Method (TTEAM/TTouch), and effective, humane techniques, we develop a step by step plan to help your horse perform at their best. Our stress-free training expands your horse’s ability to learn and desire to cooperate with the rider.

An ambitious plan for an inclusive, multi-disciplinary equine, equestrian, and agricultural center located in Jefferson County, West Virginia and serving the mid-Atlantic region
The purpose of the Shenandoah Horse Park & Agricultural Center is to provide a multi-use equine and agricultural facility encouraging tourism, local and state economic development, recreation, and environmental education opportunities.
This endeavor is being led by a small group of people interested in equestrian sport, agriculture, land preservation, and economic development in Jefferson County, WV and the surrounding areas. There is presently not a facility of this kind in a 100-mile radius and the interest and need has been verified through a preliminary study and survey.
The next step on the path of making SHPAC a reality is to conduct an in-depth feasibility study on possible locations, level of utilization, stakeholders, and how the market will support facility income. This study and a subsequent business plan will cost approximately $35,000.

Riding to Recovery
Horses and healing for sick children
Riding to Recovery is a program now open under the direction of Lucia DiBenedetto at Stonelea Farm in Aldie, Virginia, providing emotional and spiritual healing using the horse. This program is dedicated to serving children with illnesses versus disabilities as one would find at a traditional therapeutic riding center. Children faced with acute illnesses, where medical treatments and endless hospital visits are an integral part of their life, need a mental as well as physical reprieve from their pain.
Riding to Recovery provides children with a much-needed pleasurable outlet and gives them an identity outside of being ill. Horseback riding, along with the close relationships children build through working with horses, is a life-affirming journey toward wellness.
